The two quickly bond upon meeting, and fall in love during the events of A Realm Reborn, though the unfolding chaos keeps them from admitting their feelings. They only enter a romantic relationship after the events of Heavensward, from which point on they are inseparable. Varrus proposes shortly before the flight to Ultima Thule, and the two wed between the events of 6.0 and 6.1.
