Bastet was the outgoing, extroverted one, while Hermes remained his soft-spoken and introverted self, and together, the two's personalities harmonized beautifully, as if they were puzzle pieces meant to be put together.

 +Things would change, however, upon Bastet's recruitment to the seat of Azem. With so much soul-searching during their constant travels around the world, meeting unique individuals day in and day out, and experiencing new things at every turn instead of always being cramped up at home, they would eventually come to the realization that they would feel more fulfilled in their relationship if they were allowed to be polyamorous; to have multiple partners. Unfortunately, Hermes was not comfortable with the idea. Bastet was the light of his life, and he could not imagine sharing that with anyone else.

However, they would eventually start to find companionship with Emet-Selch, their fellow convocation member. And when that relationship soon deepened, with Bastet meeting Emet's partner Hythodaeus who practically swept them off of their feet, the fate of Hermes's relationship with them had been basically sealed. Bastet was the one to break it off, the moment somber and painful after having been together for so very long. Though ultimately, the two would still remain good friends, it would cause Hermes to feel hatred towards himself, as well as the world at large.

 +When MIAOU arrives in Elpis, and is assumed to be a familiar of Azem's, there is a moment where Hermes attempts to ask MIAOU to deliver a message to Azem for him. Though he ends up dismissing the notion after getting too anxious to entrust his thoughts, Hermes would've liked have told Azem that all is well in Elpis, and that he misses their presence dearly.
