Common Knowledge

Persephone, the Traveler, Shepard to the Stars, Azem, and horrible gremlin depending on who you ask. She's bright and headstrong, and never lets anyone get in the way of what she wants to do and what she considers right. Her plans are often reckless, with little regard paid to her own health, much to her husbands' chagrin. She loves plants, despite her job making it hard to keep them alive with how little time she spends at home. Even were it not for her position as Azem, she has always found a certain wanderlust itching under her skin when she stayed in one place for too long.

History

The World Unsundered

Persephone had a fairly standard ancient childhood, marked early on to be of interest to the Convocation for her talents with combat arts and her ability to connect with people. She's also no slouch in magical and aetheric arts, though she was by no means the best in her class. She met Hythlodaeus while they were still young, and remained close friends through most of their education.

When she moved on to the Akademia, along with Hythlodaeus, she found herself clashing with Hades for the first time. She found him insufferably self important and he found her infuriating and annoying. Hythlodaeus, as is his way, made friends with the other man easily and was endlessly amused by their spats.

Eventually, however, even he could not stand it any longer, and subtly invited them both out to dinner under the guise of friendship, telling neither about his invite to the other. Then he simply did not go and, as he expected, they ended up falling head over heels for each other once it was just the two of them. Despite their initial quarrels it didn't take long for them to be practically joined at the hip, even in public (to the more private Hades' chagrin).

But soon thereafter, Persephone realized there was a certain meloncholy to Hythlodaeus that wasn't there before. One night she realized the reason for it; he was in love, either with her or with Hades or with both, and she was a fool for not noticing sooner. She dragged Hades almost literally from his bed that very night, barging into Hythlodaeus' home and refused to leave until the matter was settled. The three were inseparable ever since.

At least, until the Final Days tore them apart.

The Final Days

Shortly after the Convocation proposed the Zodiark project as a response, Persephone left. Uncharacteristically, she left quietly and without a word to anyone, leaving only a bright orange crystal behind with a message to her beloved Hades; she was leaving to find a solution that would save everyone, not just half, and would be back when she found it. That she could only hope they would give her time.

But no matter how much she searched, Persephone's quest was for naught. Venat approached her and explained all she possibly could; that a shard of her own soul had come back to warn them, and that the only way to save the star was to break it, and everyone on it. That her own future incarnation was their only hope. That she had to die to stop this tragedy.

Though Persephone agreed to Venat's plan, she desperately wished to save at least someone. She sought out Hades, told him everything she dared, that he needed to take whoever of the Convocation that was left and hide them as thoroughly as he possibly could. And though she didn't tell him why, didn't tell him the plan, she did tell him that she would have to stay, and to please trust her. And despite his own misgivings, he did. And he regretted it.

And so would end Persephone's story. However, in another world, another time, perhaps she made a different choice. To deny Venat, and thus be sent against her will into a future she tried so hard to prevent.
