A'kito usually goes by Kito rather than his full name, having never known the Seeker tribe he was born in. He was adopted by a Bozjan Hrothgar as an infant and raised there along with his older Viera brother, Kotah. After the city's destruction, he would roam alone for a long time with only his father's old greatsword for company until fate brought him to Eorzea where he would become the Warrior of Light. His closest companion is the ancient wyvern Twintania, and one is rarely seen without the other.

Kito is a caring individual, willing to fight for what he believes right. He's seen enough death in his life where he tends to avoid killing unless he has to, remembering all to well what grief can do to a person. He would spend a long time fearing his own strength as a dark knight for exactly this reason until he found balance between his ideals and his strengths as a warrior.

Kito grew up in the city studying botany, while his brother took an interest in magic and aspired to eventually study in Sharlayan. The two were close growing up, and supported each others' goals. But this would not last, and the only reason Kito survived the destruction of Bozja at the age of 15 summers was that he happened to be on a trip out of the city to study plants. He stumbled back to the city heedless of the danger and all that was left of his family home was the old greatsword that had hung over the fireplace. With nothing but the clothes on his back and this sword, he left before the Garleans could capture him. He would soon find out the stone in the pommel of the sword was actually a dark knight soul stone, one that had belonged to his father. His variant of Fray would take the form of his dead father and encourage him to challenge the Garlean soldiers in the provinces for all the wrong they had done his family. It was only stumbling into Eorzea where the Garleans had not taken over that finally brought Kito to his senses and allowed him to banish the phantom that had been guiding him and begin to build himself a new life in Eorzea as an adventurer.

Kito is fairly nervous joining the Scions starting out. He'd been doing alright as an adventurer, but he had never needed his soul stone's full power and he still feared the phantom that had led him to spend years full of violence. Primals required a lot more fighting strength, and he would slowly learn to trust in his own abilities.

On a mission with the Crystal Braves chasing a fugitive that had been killing mages in the area, Kito learned the fugitive was actually his brother, Kotah had left the city on a trip of his own not long after Kito did and also survived its destruction. But the two were pitted against each other, Kotah invited Kito to help him destroy Garlemald with the magical power he'd been stealing from the mages and storing in the strange gemstone atop his staff using black magic, and Kito refused being horrified by the idea and knowing as the Warrior of Light he had to stop this from happening. Kotah disappears when he's clearly outnumbered, but Kito must now live knowing what his brother became.

While fighting through the Binding Coils of Bahamut, Kito takes pity on Twintania who had only attacked because she was under Allagan control. He manages to break her neurolink using his sword, but it required a bit of magic to be strong enough and something went awry, freeing the ancient wyvern but binding her soul to Kito's. From this point on the two are forever linked, able to sense the emotions and even hear thoughts from the other. Twintania is quick to close herself off through this bond though, and Kito would hear very little from her until she deigned to warn him against going to Ishgard. Still, even if he had wanted to take her advice he couldn't, there was nowhere else to go by that point.

Kito draws Twintania's attention once more as he supports Alphinaud, Estinien, and Ysayle in trying to go talk to Hraesvelgr. She's a very pessimistic voice in his head, insisting it won't work. Her kin fought the Allagans, Nidhogg's kin fight the Ishgardians, and she simply cannot believe peace is possible. Twintania makes it clear she would never join Nidhogg, she's had her fill of war, but she supports his crusade regardless. Her commentary becomes frequent, but never positive.

Kotah is seen again out in Dravania, having learned of the aether in dragon eyes and attempts to steal the eye of Nidhogg from the group. He's quickly outmatched by both Kito and Estinien, and backs off.

The death of Nidhogg in the Aery enrages Twintania, there are very few great wyrms left and Kito and Estinien had just slain another. The ancient wyrm would stop offering commentary for a long time, only showing interest in Azys Lla when Midgardsormr leads Kito to Tiamat, Twintania's mother. For the first time since he freed her, Kito sees Twintania in person as she swoops in to speak to Tiamat. Twintania was naturally upset by her mother's self imprisonment, and ends up admitting she's actually impressed by Kito's efforts chasing even the most foolish of ideals. Tiamat has no grudge against humanity, and encourages Twintania to support whatever causes she wishes and live her life however she chooses. Twintania still does not wish to fight, but she offers Kito her wings to reach Thordan.

Kito does not fight alone for long though, upon seeing Nidhogg's shade claim Estinien's body Twintania is horrified. It reminds her far too much of Bahamut being risen as a primal, and she wants the shade dead immediately. Kito gains her as a full ally at last, and the mental connection they share makes them an unstoppable pair in battle.

Kito and Twintania are a force to be reckoned with on the warfront, and perhaps this is why Zenos became so interested in the power of Shinryu upon seeing the power of fighting with an ancient dragon.

Kito runs into Kotah again out on the Steppe, the Viera having tried his luck out in the East where nobody had heard of him yet. It's revealed in their brief confrontation that the strange auracite on Kotah's staff he uses to store the magic was given to him by Lahabrea, though there's not much that can be done with this information since Lahabrea is dead already and Kotah doesn't care that his source was evil.

Being pulled to the First sees the bond between Kito and Twintania severely weakened, the two are unable to sense each other at all between worlds and there's a genuine worry it was severed and could have killed the dragon until Tataru's first letter assures Kito Twintania is alright and it must just be weakened.

But Kito has more problems to deal with on the First, as it turns out Kotah was accidentally taken along with the Scions and they had never been told Kotah was the murderer of all those mages. Kotah had never confessed to the crime in the months he's been on the First and had befriended the Scions while leaving them unaware of what he had done, placing Kito in a terrible position. He has to threaten his brother into telling them with the warning that he'll do it himself if Kotah doesn't and the Scions would be far more upset if it came from Kito. This works, and while no one is happy about it, particularly about him befriending him without ever telling them, they agree it's for the best that they all work together to get home and sort it all out afterwards. Kotah is desperate to prove his time on the First has changed him, being forcibly removed from his quest against Garlemald had forced him to reflect and he had found new purpose living in the Crystarium and eventually learning astrology from Urianger before Kito arrived. Kito refuses to believe this, he's had to fight his own brother enough where he just can't.

Luckily there's plenty to do to distract Kito from his family issues with him being the only one who can kill the Lightwardens. While he had grown steadily more confident early on, he had never allowed himself to use the full extent of his power as a dark knight and had the excuse of Twintania's help making it unneeded for so long. Here on the First though, he must fight alone and bring his full power to bear to save this world no matter how much it scares him. He slowly learns to trust himself and understand he can use this power for good.

After Kito first returns to the Source his bond with Twintania is reconnected but she had flown off awhile ago and seemed distant. With trying to return the Scions home, he didn't have time to dwell on it, Twintania had never liked crowds of people and so he assumed she just preferred to be alone while he was away. It was only when the Scions were finally home and Lunar Bahamut was revealed did they realize what had happened: Twintania, having more than likely been tempered to the original Bahamut had been drawn into this summoning with the other tempered dragons. They organize a mission to find her and Kito battles her until shes tired out enough to be given the cure. They get their theory confirmed by Twintania herself, who believes she was protected from it by Kito's blessing shared across their soul bond until he went to the First where the connection was weakened. Kito is glad to have her back, and she's more than eager to help free Tiamat and do what she can for her tempered siblings.

The Scions, after all that had happened, ended up negotiating for custody of Kotah since he had been such a help on the First. He is spared from execution, but banned from every Alliance nation and forced to stay in Mor Dhona with Urianger as his only real friend. Even Kito himself is still disinclined to reconnect with his brother, unable to forgive everything he had done.

While Twintania is welcomed into Sharlayan, Kotah is not allowed to come with the group and he is deeply upset by this since moving to Sharlayan had always been his dream as a child. Kito points out this is exactly what he deserves, and things remain cold between them.

Sharlayan isn't built for dragons, and Twintania is much happier when they visit Thavnair. She's quite interested in Vrtra, a dragon who has lived among humans for so long without issue, and Kito is happy for the optimism it gives her.

Garlemald was particularly harsh for Kito. He had long since put aside his personal issues with the Garleans, their fate reminded him so much of his own home when his was young and he really did want to help. He was heartbroken by their fear of him, but knew he deserved it both as the Warrior of Light who had opposed their Empire, and as the dark knight who had fought countless Garlean soldiers just for the idea of revenge all those years ago. Kotah had been brought along by the contingent, the Alliance very happy to send him far away from their nations, and even he found himself horrified seeing exactly what he wanted to do to the Garleans in reality. Kito and Kotah get into an arugment, with Kito pointing out this is exactly why Kotah's crimes were so unforgivable: he had wanted to bring this suffering to them. But Kotah knows, especially now, how wrong he was, and while things will never be the same between the siblings, they end the talk on at least friendly terms. Kotah would later offer his staff, the one with all the stolen aether stored in it, to help power the Ragnarok, insisting they might as well at least do something good with it to honor all the souls he'd killed for that aether.

When the world is finally saved and the Endsinger defeated, Kito decides to hang up his father's sword and find his own path forward from there. Twintania is happy to support him, and the two set out for new adventures together. Kotah ends up in Thavnair, one of the few places he hadn't committed any crimes, helping their alchemists with his magical abilities.

Twintania
The ancient wyvern freed from the Binding Coils of Bahamut is Kito's closest friend. They share a unique bond, their souls bound together allowing them to share thoughts and memories as they please between each other over any distance, the only known limit being crossing to different shards disabling this. Things started out rough between them, Twintania was not pleased to be unbound from the Allagans only to be bound to yet another mortal. Still, Kito's kindhearted determination grew on her and the two are now inseparable.

Kotah
Kotah is Kito's older brother of ten years, having both been adopted by the same Hrothgar father. In their childhood they were very close, but things quickly turned cold between them when they first learned the other had survived, as by then Kito was the Warrior of Light and Kotah was murdering people for their magical power. They had gone down different paths, and Kito found his brother's crimes unforgivable. Though things became amicable between them eventually after Kotah realized the error of his ways, the two will probably never be terribly close again.

The Scions
All of the Scions are Kito's close friends, perhaps the first he made since losing his entire life at 15. He would eventually bond with Estinien in particular, both having a shared interest in dragons thanks to Twintania.

- He wears the cowboy hat everywhere. It was a gift from his father when he was young, and he just happened to be wearing it the day the city fell so he considers it essential.

- He never lost his love for botany, his home is full of plants and he often has to ask someone to water them when he's away for long periods.

- Kito accidentally taught Twintania modern speech through their conversations, while early on she spoke with lots of “thy” and “thou” like most older dragons, she would eventually settle into more modern speech having shared thoughts with a modern human for so long. She will still slip into older language when angry though.
