General Rules
Rules for all channels in the server
This is a server specifically for FFXIV and XIV OCs.
While you're free to discuss other things in the appropriate chats and general chats, the OC chats, screenshot and art chats, lore chat, etc should all pertain to FFXIV. It's fine if your XIV OC comes from elsewhere or exists in other universes or even crossovers. However, in general, the content has to be related to XIV somehow.
Any channel whose purpose is to show images or links, we will be enforcing a no off topic rule.
These channels will be: #self-promos-and-events , #finished-swaps , #commission-and-merch-boosts , #looking-for-x , screenshots-and-artwork , #writing-and-fic-links , #spicy-pose-and-art , oc-info , #character-files , #writing-resources and tumblr-prompt-and-ask-games . We can have brief discussions about things posted there. For full on conversations we recommend going to the appropriate discussion chat or creating a thread.
Respect everybody
There will be no discrimination, hate speech or harassment of any kind in this Discord. This includes making death threats or wishing death/serious harm upon anyone, whether direct or not or towards someone in this server or not, even if you're being vague or joking.
Respect reflects onto our OCs
Respect everybody's OCs, ships and lore. No mocking, no harassing. All OCs are valid, no matter the size, race, gender or history.
If someone ships/plays in a way you don't like, simply don't interact.
There will be no harassment, accusations, name calling, etc because of who people choose to ship with who.
We follow the two-week spoiler policy
Browse at your own risk and keep to the spoiler chat for those.
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
If you see people talking about thing X and think, “Oh, I hate thing X, better type a message to tell everyone that” - STOP. All you'll do is derail/end the conversation and make people feel bad. Remember, you can always just SCROLL PAST a conversation you don't like, you don't need to insert yourself.
Keep lore discussion friendly and light.
You are allow to criticize the media we consume. However, we aren't here to shit on the game or the writers, or to bring real world morality into a fictional universe. You can of course discuss things you don't like but do so in a way that doesn't invalidate those who do like it.
Example:
Do ✅ : “I found the writing in this expansion to be lackluster because of X.”
Don't ❌ : “I dislike X character and I hate that the writers focus too much time on them.”
Keep criticisms clear and concise.
While you can criticize the media. Keep in mind, what you may dislike may be something that someone else loves. Please keep the discussion within reason and move to elsewhere if you need to debate or vent.
Example:
Do ✅ : “I don't like how this change will make my character look.”
Do ✅ : “I worry about the changes to X job because of x,y, and z.”
Don't ❌ : “Wow I feel bad for face 5 midlanders they got fucked with these changes.”
Don't ❌ : “X job is dead with this change.”
Absolutely, positively, NO AI GENERATED CONTENT ALLOWED. If you are found to have posted AI content you will be banned, no ifs, ands or buts.
We mean it, instant ban!
No self depreciation.
While we appreciate that many members of our community may experience mental health conditions, trauma, or other issues, we ask that members understand that excessive self-deprecation within chat can negatively impact the health and well-being of others, and is ultimately detrimental to oneself as well. Please don't be mean to yourselves.
No oversharing personal life details
It’s important to remember that we are not your doctors/therapists/emotional support group/financial advisors. While we adore all of you, and we can sympathize with struggles, we need people to stop treating the server as a means of support. If you’re having a crisis, there are other communities and servers out there for you, as well as resources for each of your individual areas - and we are not professionals in that area and should not be treated as such.

- Please be respectful of everyone in the voice chat. Unless you know every member intimately, refrain from bringing up topics known to cause conflict and divisiveness. If you are asked to stop talking about something, please do so. We try very hard to foster mutual respect in our users.
- In the vein of being respectful, remember that everyone in chat deserves a chance to talk. Please do not take over the chat unless you've been invited to do so, and do not talk over other members if they are in the middle of speaking.
- The Open Chat channel is available to everyone, and you do not need to ping anyone before joining this specific voice channel
